Tethers

tethers of feathers, light enough to help you fly
tethers of spun wool, supple enough to give
tethers of wholeness, in spirals to the center of Earth
tethers of spirit, stronger than any whirlwind to lift you up
tethers of delight, a maypole of crocuses and daffodils
winding, weaving ribbons of green and purple
to coast back down on, in beauty and order
tethers of willow, woven into a seat, a sweatlodge, a shelter
to welcome you home
tethers of sand to paint the sacred ground,
where you land to dance on earth again

may a circle of arms hold you whole and welcome you back
