Preliminary Visions

Poetry happens.

With good timing, poetry gets captured, written, and rewritten. (Sometimes not.)

With enough free time, poetry gets sifted, compiled, sorted and voila, a manuscript spits out of the printer.

That was almost twenty years ago. I had looked through all my old journals, transcribed the best poems, and put together Preliminary Visions. I sent the manuscript to publishers from time to time, and had some nibbles, a couple honorable mentions, and went on to put together three other poetry collections and write a hybrid novella. Then, when I turned 60, I decided I’m going to publish my books myself this year, if that’s what I have to do…

And double voila. Homebound Publications accepted a book for publication! And the very moment I logged on to email the cleaned-up manuscript to Homebound, I saw that another publisher, Finishing Line Press, had accepted another book for publication: Post-Catholic Midrashim.

As if I didn’t already firmly believe in synchronicity! Feeling boldness really does have power and magic in it.

Soon I’ll be asking you if you want to preorder Post-Catholic Midrashim, as that publisher decides the print run based on preorders. Stay tuned, or send me your address for a post card.
